On the night of May 15, 2022, we had our first total lunar eclipse of the year. Did you watch it? I felt it was beautiful and so moving. In reflecting on it since, I’ve had many thoughts come to mind.
For starters the eclipse itself did not start at the exact time we were told it would.. As a matter of fact at that time the sky was covered in storm clouds where I was at. You knew the approximate area where the moon was but there was no way anyone was going to see an eclipse. Then an hour later, still no storm had come through but instead the sky had completely cleared of storm clouds and it was obvious that the eclipse was going to put on a magnificent show. Slowly the shadows passed in front of the moon blocking more and more of it from sight and once it was fully covered the moon was a dark red and it remained that way for quite some time. Casting our world in cold and darkness.
I admit, I did not stay up and watch it once again emerge, but I was awake around 3 am and I tell you at that time the moon appeared to me to be brighter and clearer than it had been before. The next day I continued to watch and reflect and it felt to me that the entire world was brighter and clearer. As if God was saying things are renewed again.
It brings me a sense of peace and comfort when I feel God showering His brightness and blessings around me. Sometimes a simple lunar eclipse can open those feelings and draw us closer to God’s blessings.
